Born and raised a small-town country girl, I always felt incredibly fortunate for my simple life and nature-filled upbringing. However, I can remember early on developing a strong desire to explore the world and leave my tiny town.
After graduating high school, I attended a large university. This was quite the culture shock from my rural upbringing, and I couldn’t get enough of it! My dream to explore and interact with more and more people only grew from there. Upon graduating college, my then-fiance, (now husband), and I moved to northern Indianapolis.
We saved our money with the intention of moving out of Indiana. In our exploration for the next place to call home, it took one visit to Colorado in 2013 and my heart fluttered right out of my chest! Colorado is an active person’s dream; it is one enormous, breathtaking playground.
I have had an intense, growing passion and appreciation for the cannabis plant since I was 21. Coming to Colorado, I knew I wanted to be part of this industry and part of history. I strive to break the old, overdone stereotypes and be a positive example of marijuana use as a mindful, active, go-getting individual.
My very first job as a Colorado resident was as a budtender at Lightshade Labs, one of Denver’s premier dispensaries. Through this job I was privileged with the incredible joy and once-in-a-lifetime experience of budtending the very first year in history that recreational marijuana was legalized.
Since 2014, this industry has become my home, my family and my 24/7 passion. I have become a full-blown canna-nerd. I read about and study cannabis almost daily and have done so since beginning my journey. Budtending led me to an opportunity to co-host a cannabis podcast where I co-produced six episodes of ‘Smoke Break.’
At one point, I was budtending full-time, co-producing ‘Smoke Break,’ and working as a promoter for a startup social media site centered around cannabis. They actually hired me to be their ‘Weed Fairy’ for the site and I spent about 5 months getting paid to wear a ganja’d out Tinkerbelle-type fairy costume all over Colorado promoting the site and smoking people out.
As hilarious and sweet of a gig as that was, I wanted to find a full-time employer to really kick up my career and grow my skill set with. In 2015, I landed an incredible job in the hemp industry as a CBD Sales and Promotional Representative. I have sold CBD products all over the country for the past year-and-a-half and done numerous promotions in the Denver and surrounding area educating about hemp and CBD.
Today, I am involved in a variety of cannabis organizations, including The Cannabis Wedding Expo, The Colorado Cannabis Tours, and of course, my recent collaboration here with The THC Foodie, which I am simply elated about! I could not be happier or more thankful that my work is my passion and that my dreams have become my reality. While the ride is wild, ever-changing, and the future is unknown, I could not be more proud and grateful to be in this incredible, history-making industry!
